The Seagoville High School Soccer season started last month. So far the Boys Varsity Soccer team has played 8 games. Out of those 8 games our boys varsity team has won 1 game. The Varsity team captain is Diego Garcia. Diego is a senior and wears the lucky number 10 on his team jersey.  His motivation to join soccer was his family. He had a lot of background knowledge on the sport because he’s been playing since his childhood.

We asked Diego about Coach Debase’s coaching and he responded, “Coach teaches the whole team and every day we learn something new.” Coach Debase said of his captain, “Diego loves to compete in soccer and shows it through his leadership and advanced skills.” When Diego first started to learn and play soccer he found it hard and difficult to play. When Coach Debase told Diego he was going to be the captain of the team the player felt motivated to do better and help his team out with everything he could.

Diego has played soccer for all 4 years of high school; he started freshman year and really liked playing for the school.  The captain puts in 4 hours or longer working on his skills each day, balancing his practice and work schedule. When asked about his teammates, he responded that everyone on the team are really good players and they all know how to work well on a team. He enjoys being the captain and says it isn’t hard at all because he enjoys helping his team.
